Pino indeed has feathers (veeren). What the Dutch forget to mention is that they are blue feathers!

No wonder the Fozzie Bear impersonator on the Dutch stamp is shocked.

A Dutch friend informed me of Pino's real nature:

I just have to correct you on our Dutch big bird. Our big bird is not big bird, nor a copy of it. It is a bird named Pino, and he is the cousin of the American big bird!!!!!
